February 10: A birthday, but no gift (Yet)

By Fred Vahlkamp

Well, it’s not exactly a gift YET, but it is a voucher. On February 10, our company celebrates its 33rd anniversary. The plan was to release a new version of ManualMaster Trevally with a revamped user interface on that day. However, as I realized this week, we may have been a bit too ambitious.

We are currently implementing a major overhaul of Trevally’s user interface. Why? Because we’ve learned it can be better—not only from our customers but also from our own colleagues who use the software daily. So, we got to work! And a lot of work has already been done. We’re very happy with the progress, and several customers who have had a sneak preview are equally enthusiastic.

That being said, we want to get it right the first time, and for that, we need a few more weeks. This was the message from our developers, and I’ve taken their advice to heart. The decision was obvious: the planned extra release will be canceled, and we will integrate the new user interface into the Spring Release in April. This decision makes sense for several reasons.

Firstly, it saves us time, which we can allocate to the internal acceptance test and preparing our ManualMaster Academy. More importantly, some functionalities related to the new user interface require additional attention, and we’ll address those now. This prevents us from duplicating efforts.

That said, I am aware that some customers have been eagerly awaiting this release, and some may even have already scheduled its installation. To those customers, I sincerely apologize—we were overly enthusiastic when setting this release date.

We do, however, hope to welcome you at one of our online (Dutch) Highlights sessions, scheduled for February 20 and 25. There, you can get an early introduction to the approach we’ve chosen, and after that, we’ll look forward to the Spring Release. So, stay tuned—you’ll receive it soon!
